What happened to America’s manufacturing capability?

The Republican Party has changed drastically from the moderates of the Eisenhower — Nixon years to become today’s political arm of Corporate power in America. Together, they seem to be working to subvert our democratic system to tip the scales of power and wealth decidedly in favor of the already super-rich and powerful to the detriment of all other Americans.
Towards that end they created the Tea-Party movement to act as their “foot soldiers” in suppressing liberal/moderate policies which hinder their goals of acquiring even more wealth and power.
